President Obama's 'First 100 Days' Press Conference
Eminem - "3 A.M." Trailer
It was nice knowing you, Asher Roth!
Asher Roth wonders why he'll never be Eminem.
'Cos after your latest shenanigans, your career should be a wrap:
"When I dropped [my "A Millie" fresstyle] ... (I thought) 'You guys are always going off about how much money you have. Do you realize what's going on in this world right now?' All these black rappers - African rappers - talking about how much money they have. 'Do you realize what's going on in Africa right now?'" Roth says.
"It's just like, 'You guys are disgusting. Talking about billions and billions of dollars you have. And spending it frivolously, when you know, the Motherland is suffering beyond belief right now.'"
Honestly, I though this quote was fake 'til I traced it back to an interview he did with AP. And you know what, it's not even like his sentiment is that off-the-mark but his choice of words is. After the first time, I could have given him a pass (if he'd ever bother to explain himself) maybe but, and not to get all PC, if ever there was someone who needs racial sensitivity training, this dude is it! Well he was right about one thing: he'll never be Eminem 'cos unlike Marshall, this guy is completely tone deaf when it come to navigating the cultural and racial waters of being a white rapper in hip hop.

GOP Governors Get a Dose of Stimulus Reality
From Politico.com a week ago:
"The list of governors threatening to decline federal stimulus money last month read like a list of Republicans considering running for president in 2012: Govs. Mark Sanford, Bobby Jindal and Sarah Palin led the anti-stimulus charge.
But what began with a bang is ending with something closer to a whimper. All three of those governors have been forced to scale back their expectations, to varying degrees, as the push of conservative philosophy gave way to the pull of political reality.
All three found that praise from the conservative movement in Washington meant nothing to furious state legislators of both parties. And in the end, along with other conservative Republican governors, the three submitted letters in recent days asking to be eligible for federal funds, a spokesman for the White House Office of Management and Budget confirmed."

Drake - "Funkmaster Flex/Hot 97 Freestyle"
Drake spittin over "You, Me, Him, and Her" and "Incarcerated Scarfaces" aka Flex's faves. Will this guy ever get out of the 90's? The jury's out.
Download the Drake Funkmaster Flex/Hot 97 Freestyle here. [direct mp3 download link, right click and save as via Hot 97]
Out of all the kids on the XXL Class of 2008 cover, Drake is probably the one who could win the biggest. He's got buzz beyond just the blog and internet world already (the main reason he could win IMHO), he's down with Wayne, he's photogenic, he has a fanbase from his TV work (for whatever's that worth) and he's ambitious. At worst with the right records, he could be the next Common, a spitter who has female fans, but I think the upside is way beyond that if the stars line up right for him.

I remember going to see The Bombitty of Errors, an "ad-raptation" of Shakespeare's The Comedy of Errors years ago that was actually really, really good. The musical In The Heights also did an amazing job of incorporating hip hop into the Broadway musical format and let's not forget Big Boi's Big ballet suing music from Outkast. It's good to see hip hop being mixed with these so-called 'higher' art forms to create something fresh or at least different.
