Some Republicans Emerge To Endorse Barack Obama
From The New York Sun:
" With an eye to the general election and the Pennsylvania primary, some Republicans who oppose President Bush's war policy are endorsing Senator Obama.
Call them the Obamacans: They are against continuing the Iraq war and reject what they see as Mr. Bush's unconstitutional buildup of executive power."

Upcoming at the Brooklyn Museum: Takashi Murakami Exhibit
Opening April 5th. If you're wondering who the hell this is, he's the dude who designed the Kanye West Graduation album cover. Details on the exhibit from the Brooklyn Museum Website:
"The most comprehensive retrospective to date of the work of internationally acclaimed Japanese artist Takashi Murakami includes more than ninety works in various media that span the artist’s entire career, installed in more than 18,500 square feet of gallery space.
Born in Tokyo in 1962, Murakami is one of the most influential and acclaimed artists to have emerged from Asia in the late twentieth century, creating a wide-ranging body of work that consciously bridges fine art, design, animation, fashion, and popular culture. He received a Ph.D. from the prestigious Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, where he was trained in the school of traditional Japanese painting known as Nihonga, a nineteenth-century mixture of Western and Eastern styles."

I love it! Only in America:

Click here for more from The Swamp blog at the Baltimore Sun.
Update: I've been thinking about this a little more. Why did the Obama campaign release this photo? The Wright controversy seems to be an issue with conservatives and on-the-fence independents who were looking for an excuse NOT to vote for him. Releasing this photo does not help swing these people back his way (or does it)?

Fallon resigns as Mideast military chief
From a USA Today article by Jim Michaels:
"The top commander of U.S. forces in the Middle East abruptly announced his resignation Tuesday a week after the publication of a magazine article that described him as being at odds with the Bush administration's stance toward Iran.In a profile in Esquire magazine, author Thomas P.M. Barnett described Adm. William Fallon as "brazenly" challenging the Bush administration and pushing back against a president "who trash-talks his way to World War III" with Iran.
Fallon denied a difference in policy, but called the news reports a distraction. "The simple perception that there is makes it difficult for me to effectively serve America's interests," Fallon said in a statement."

Geraldine Ferraro: Clinton's Latest Designated Attack Dog?
This is just pathetic:
"In a telephone interview last week with the Daily Breeze of Torrance in advance of a local appearance Sunday, Ferraro said: "If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman [of any color] he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is."
In a brief Associated Press interview Tuesday while in Harrisburg, Pa., Clinton said she did not agree with Ferraro. She added, "It's regrettable that any of our supporters -- on both sides, because we both have this experience -- say things that kind of veer off into the personal."
Obama, in an interview with the Morning Call of Allentown, Pa., said, "I don't think Geraldine Ferraro's comments have any place in our politics or in the Democratic Party. They are divisive. I think anybody who understands the history of this country knows they are patently absurd. And I would expect that the same way those comments don't have a place in my campaign they shouldn't have a place in Sen. Clinton's either.""
Ferraro was a loser back in the day and she's a loser now. Clinton needs to stop with these sad desperation attacks (now being done by proxy?!) before I lose what little respect I still have for her. Click here for the full article by Robin Abcarian from the LA Times.

The $3 Trillion War!
From a Vanity Fair article by Joseph E. Stiglitz and Linda J. Bilmes:
"On March 19, 2008, the U.S. will have been in Iraq for five years. The Bush administration was wrong about the need for the Iraq war and about the benefits the war would bring to Iraq, to the region, and to America. It has also been wrong about the full cost of the war, and it continues to take steps to conceal that cost.
After wildly lowballing the cost of the Iraq conflict at a mere $50 to $60 billion, the Bush administration has been concealing the full economic toll. The spending on military operations is merely the tip of a vast fiscal iceberg. In an excerpt from their new book, the authors calculate the grim bottom line."
