As you can see, these Chiacgo production cats drastically revamped the track. I dig it! Hey Champ are kind of like a mix of the Kickdrums and Chester French (or maybe Colin Munroe?). Nice!

New music: The Cool Kids - The Bake Sale EP
Blog and hipster hype be damned - The Bake Sale is actually really legit good! If I have one major criticism it's that the album (or is it EP?) is a bit samey sounding after a while although it makes for a quick listen over its barely 30-plus minutes & 10 tracks and I've been playing it repeatedly over the past few days which is something I haven't done with too many albums recently. If you miss that minimalist 808, drums 'n synth effect sound a la Mantronix or early Rick Rubin Def Jam productions then this record is for you 'cos The Cool Kids is bringin' '88 back.

This is an odd one: I was told about this video a while back but it was apparently shelved (or delayed?) due to clearance issues so I was surprised to see it pop up when I did search on Mickey and Cool Kids on YouTube today. I hit my dude Mickey to ask if everything was straight with it now and apparently it's not and he's kind of tight that its leaked. So watch it while you can and before it gets taken down!

Pharoahe Monch: Live in NYC TONIGHT!
Even though his cheap-ass promo company wanted me to run a ticket giveaway on the site but wouldn't give me a pair for myself (I'd buy 'em but am dead broke), I'm still gonna show love for Pharoahe Monch's show tonight at the Highline. Looks like it'll be a good one with Monch performing with a live band and Black Milk, Polyrhythm Addicts and The Cool Kids opening up. He looks nuts in that tour poster though....
