Music Video: David Banner & 9th Wonder - Slow Down
When I posted the David Banner x 9th Wonder track "Slow Down" from a few months ago yesterday, I thought I was just being my usual late-ass self. Little did I know there was actually a video for the track that was only just making the rounds now until I happened to be checking the homie, Benhameen's site Pleasedontstare.com last night. I love this track and respect to Banner for paying homage to the cult, low-budget sci-fi movie They Live with the video.

"October 17th, 2009 (Chicago, IL) Due to the recent brutal murder of Derrion Albert, which attracted worldwide press, and the more than 150 homicides in Chicago since the beginning of the year (Chicago Breaking News) major recording artists David Banner, Rhymefest, Naledge (from Kidz In The Hall), Skooda Chose, and producer 9th Wonder have united to raise awareness of the epidemic of violence among urban youth within Chicago by organizing an Anti-Violence rally. Additionally, the rally will serve as a creative canvas backdrop for the video shoot and release of the song “Something’s Wrong.”
On Tuesday, October 20th, 2009, at George’s Music Room, located at 3915 West Roosevelt Rd - shoot time starts at 6:00 am. In attendance will be family members and friends of the victims of violence, Chicago Public School students, community organizations, churches, politicians and local residents. Participants are uniting to call for an end to senseless violence utilizing the Hip-Hop art form as a catalyst for change and a platform for youth to engage in community awareness and activism."

Like I told the promo rep who sent me this, I'm not much of a Jean Grae fan so I start out a little bit biased against her to begin with but I'm not digging this too tough: she sounds kind of bored and the track feels unfinished - like a well-developed demo that needs something more to become a finished track. That being said, it's still a noteworthy track so tell me if I'm wrong here.

I've had my issues with Little Brother's music in the past but even I'll f*cks with this so believe me when I say go in and enjoy!
BTW: Treal is also supposedly performing at the Brooklyn Hip Hop Festival on 6/23 but I didn't see his name on the artist page so I don't think that's officially confirmed yet.
