Supposedly the first single from his new studio album. Already? I like....
Liz Trotta apologizes for Obama 'joke.' Whatever - joke?? The first-time slip by a Republican has-been is one thing, the second one by an about-to-be-irrelevant democratic presidential contender is sorely disappointing but by the third time, it starts no longer feel like solely the provenance of nut-job conspiracy theorists.

Plantlife is the group project by Raheem DeVaughn and Alicia Keys prodcuer, Jack Splash. Their new Time Traveller album is kind of all over the place aesthetically but pretty good nonetheless.
Cop a free download of the "Time Traveller" viral video (above) via Z-share.

To my ears, this 18 year old kid from Dallas sounds like a young Pimp C mixed with some Lil Boosie voice-wise. His first single, “Gutta Chick” could be the next anthem for everyone who has banged hits by Boosie, Webbie, Soulja Boy etc. over the past year but check it out for yourself and tell me what you think:

Uh-oh! Coldplay gets political. Musically this is pretty much same ole, same ole from these dudes but the video (directed by Mat Whitecross) is very web 2.0, mash-up style.
At Webster Hall. Yes, it's more hipster sh-t but I f-cks with James Murphy's DFA productions & his LCD Soundsystem band stuff as well as Mstrkrft and Grand Master Flash is a legend, of course so this show could be a good look. Click here for more details.

More police-related f-ckery, down South this time (click the video above and read the following story):
"At 11p.m on December 26, 2001 police in Prentiss, Mississippi raided the residence of Cory Maye, a 21-year-old father who was at home with his 18-month-old daughter Ta'Corriana.Click here for the full article and here for the back story.
The cops were looking for drugs and smashed through the back door. In the ensuing chaos, Maye hunkered down with his daughter in a bedroom and when the police broke down that door, he fired three bullets, one of which killed Officer Ron Jones. Maye testified in court that the police did not identify themselves until after they had entered his residence; indeed, he testified that they did not identify themselves until after he had fired his shots. Once they did, he said he put his weapon on the floor, slid it toward police, and surrendered.
The police, who refused to talk with reason.tv, tell a different story. They claim that they identified themselves multiple times before entering Maye's house and bedroom, and that there was no way Maye couldn't have known who they were. A jury rejected Maye's case that he was acting in self-defense and he was sentenced to death for the murder of Office Ron Jones."

Another 'moral' scandal from the 'Family Values' Republicans:
"Congressman Vito Fossella released a statement today admitting to having fathered a three-year-old daughter out of wedlock, just a week after being arrested on DWI charges.
The 43-year-old Staten Island congressman, who is married with three legitimate children, said he was having an affair with a Virginia woman named Laura Fay and has a toddler with her.
He released a statement this morning saying:
"My personal failings and imperfections have caused enormous pain to the people I love and I am truly sorry," said Fossella."

Eskay just put something up on this kid Charles Hamilton who I've been hearing about for a minute through my dudes Jeff and Dave 'cos they were f-cking with a group he was in but I never actually knew his last name! Now that I do, I figured I'd post a couple of his songs that I was diggin' from his group days (I guess he's going for dolo now after recently signing to Interscope):
- "Stutter"- sampling Charlie Brown!
- One More Time" - I could be wrong on my chronology here, 'cos it's been a minute, but I think he actually did this joint sampling Daft Punk's "One More Time" before Kanye's "Stronger" dropped.

The Bob Marley "I Shot the Sherriff" music is kind of distracting even if grimly apropos so see the original Fox News Philly clip of this savage multi-police officer beating of three alleged police shooting suspects here (or on YouTube here).

I rep the T.dot all day and Kardi's my dude but, while I like the video, I dunno about the song in this one!
From the album, Not 4 Sale in stores June 24th!
FINALLY! it's the moment I've been dreading for almost two years now after 8 years in the same apt. During that time my vinyl collection ballooned to over 3000 records (as well as a couple thousand CD's) Why couldn't Serato have been invented in 2000??
In the meantime though posts are likely to be of an especially quick 'n dirty variety (I mean, even more so than usual that is) until I'm settled, have internet access in my new place etc.
Can you tell I picked up a copy of the Sunday New York Times (which happened to include their 'Summer Movie Preview') for the first time in a while this weekend?

Read the book a few years ago - it was great. I wonder if the movie will do it justice though?
I've no idea if this movie s actually any good but shout to the home girl, Danai who stars in it. I had the pleasure of meeting her a couple weeks back at Tillman's.

This was sent to me with a note calling her the "Next Alicia Keys!" Karina, who apparently speaks seven languages, was also co-signed by Lil Mama last week on '106 & Park' as someone else making music with a message when she was asked what other young artists she liked. I have to agree - the bubblegum throwaway stuff is cool but it's good to see more of these younger artists trying to do something with some meaning. I'm glad Karina came out while she's still actually young 'cos she's been signed to Def Jam (by Hov) for a while now! The graffiti-covered grand piano in the video is kind of cute (n/h) too!

First single from the new album iSouljaBoy premiered on YouTube (of course!). Good grief though: this is basically a business case study of the Soulja Boy phenomenon set to a beat with (very liberal amounts of) "Crank Dat" mixed in for good measure. I actually think he's putting this out too soon given the fact that his SouljaBoyTellEm.com album is still selling and quietly creeping towards platinum. Is he gonna keep winning based on this new track though?
"iDance" [zshare stream/download mp3 link via spotted Google search]
I guess maybe my question above got answered cos a new video ("She Gotta Donk")got leaked yesterday. Idolator claims its due to the lukewarm reaction to "iDAnce" but has that been even out there long enough to gauge a real reaction and would they have had time to shoot, edit and get a new video out there, even one as no-frills looking as this one?

I don't know what's the most shocking:
1. The night and day difference between this and the video for their kiddie chorus-laced crossover success last single, "D.A.N.C.E."
2. The fact that this is a video for a dance record or
3. The fact that the dudes in Justice are both supposedly pretty serious Christians!
