New Music: Joell Ortiz - A One Two

He'll probably never be a big star but Joell consistently drops quality music. Agree? Also: dunno who produced this but that's a crazy chop of Isaac Hayes' "Ike's Mood I."
Bonus:
Joell Ortiz also just dropped this Farewell Summer EP:
Track list:
1. Intro
2. Murder (Prod. by Statik Selektah)
3. Battle Cry (Prod. by The Audible Doctor)
4. Sing Like Bilal (Remix) (Feat. Sheek Louch) (Prod. by DJ Premier)
5. So Wrong (Feat. Talib Kweli, Brother Ali & Jean Grae) (Prod. by Frank Dukes)
6. Farewell Summer (Prod. by Don Cannon)

* Was there really a version of this cover art going around with a MAJOR typo in the artwork. Wow....

New music: Yelawolf - Deer Mama

Nice flip of the blaxploitation classic, "Shaft" by the late great Isaac Hayes for a track produced by SMKA. This is a leak off The 808 Experiment: Vol 2 mixtape album. I think I posted Vol. 1 - click the SMKA label below and it should come up....
Been debating with my Grindin' fam whether this kid, Yelawolf is gonna blow. He seems to be all the over the place recently (on the internets, at least) but I'm not convinced. Others?

Throwback video: Isaac Hayes - "Walk On By"
My dude Jay just put me up on this after he spotted it on BETJ a second ago. Not sure how many sites posted this video (shot in support of the song's inclusion on the Dead Presidents soundtrack back around '95) right after the announcement of Isaac Hayes' untimely passing a couple weekends back but it's f-cking GREAT. Black Moses, R.I.P. forever.

Isaac Hayes: 1942-2008
One of my all-time favorite albums is Isaac Hayes: Live at the Sahara Tahoe which my Dad played in the house many a Sunday when I was a kid growing up. This was the record which introduced to me to Hayes' music long before there was such a thing as hip hop to revitalize his work by introducing it to a new generation. One of the coolest memories I have was meeting the man himself and asking him to sign a CD copy of that album to give my Dad as a Christmas gift a few years back. I'm also happy I got off my ass and went to see him perform live at BB King's for the first time a few months back. Black Moses, R.I.P. - you will be missed....
