New Music: Amiri - Got Beats... The Main Ingredient For The Recipe

via HiPNOTT:
"With only a week out until the release of his debut solo album, Amiri wanted to share some of the beats that were left on the shelf while making The Recipe with this beat tape Got Beats... The Main Ingredient For The Recipe. There's no denying that before anything, Amiri is a producer first and this beat tape highlights his strength - making beats.
The Recipe drops next week, September 28th, via all digital retailers but you can pre-order the physical CD today and receive it by release date HERE."

New Music: Rap Ohne Lizenz - The R.O.L. Beat Tape Vol.1

via R.O.L.:
"When we started this blog about a year ago, living together in the same building, sharing the same passion for music, we were passing on links of the stuff we found online. It´s a bit like digging for wax - a lot of crap but then at the end of the box you find a beautiful piece of music. So the next step was to share what you find on an bigger platform. While browsing the web and selecting everyday what stuff is worth promoting, we meet artists who catch our attention. We just wanted more of their dope music. We invented this compilation as fans and asked our favorite underground producers to contribute. We´re happy to deliver you a selection of mainly unreleased beats. We thank all artists for contributing with us to make this happen."
I dig this! My references for deeply underground hip hop are pretty limited but for those who know better than me - If I say this sounds like what you might get if you mixed El-P and Dilla Donuts, am I too far from the mark?

New Music: FreshNerd of 100 Akres - The Billy Ocean Beat Tape

"Billy Ocean's 1984 album, Suddenly, had gems such as "Caribbean Queen" and "Mystery Lady." Those tracks initially drew me to flip and chop the living sh*t out of this LP. This time around I even remixed Mos Def's "Priority" (from The Ecstatic album) over one of these Billy Ocean slappers and the outcome....well, let's just say its what made Billy utter the words "This sh*t is bananas!*"

* Billy Ocean never really said "This sh*t is bananas!"

Introducing New Producer Unda (aka Undaground Tha Illest) - Soon is So Far Away

Dude passed me his Soon is So Far Away CD album last night at the Sound Battle Royale event so I threw it on when I got back home just to see what it was about and it turned out to actually be some perfect late night, wind-down music.
True, to his name, this is some new school underground hip hop ish. If you dig cats like 9th Wonder and the late, great Dilla, this mostly instrumental CD (except one track, #10 "High Times (Wrap)" featuring Pancho Villa & Wallace Alamo) might be right up your alley. It was giving me some serious Donuts-like vibes in the way its formatted and the sound of some of the tracks (4, 7, 9 etc.). Check it out and tell me what you think, don't be shy - leave a comment!

New Music: Shy Guy - Beats, James Beats
This is kind of cool: Shy Guy is an up-and-coming NYC-based producer who has created an instrumental hip-hop album sampling all the early James Bond themes in chronological order. The above trailer incorprates visuals from the opening sequences from each of the films too. Creative....

New music: Oddisee - Traveling Man

I know I'm semi-late on this and its not really new music any more as I remember seeing it on some blogs a while back, but I somehow just stumbled on this while surfing around this morning. Great instrumental hip hop vibes PERFECT for your weekend listening pleasure. Here's an explanation of the project:
"As a musician, life is often lived on the road. Each city leaves its imprint on the artist as they develop their craft. Touring, recording, and keeping up with friends and family took Oddisee beyond his hometown of Washington DC to Australia, Europe, Asia, Africa, and South America. From cities like East Africa's Khartoum in Sudan, to cosmopolitan jaunts like Paris & Tokyo. The influence of these travels can be heard on every one of the 24 tracks included on Traveling Man. Each track was produced while Oddisee stayed in the city it was titled after. The result is a 24 city sonic tour of the world. Oddisee sees the world, so that you can hear it."
Enjoy....
