New Music: Gilles Peterson Presents Worldwide – A Celebration Of His Syndicated Radio Show

"Music lover, record collector, DJ, broadcaster… Perhaps most famous for his much loved genre-exploding radio shows on BBC Radio 1 (and 17 other stations around the world including Japan’s leading commercial station J-Wave), Gilles Peterson’s insatiable appetite for new music undoubtedly lies at the heart of his success. Worldwide is 10 years young and fresher than ever – a benchmark for broadcasters the world over.
Ten years in the making, this compilation is a tribute to a truly groundbreaking show, music and a serious music personality who is ahead of the curve and debuts awesome records on his show before anyone else. Gilles Peterson is a truly revered international club and radio DJ and one of music’s foremost tastemakers (possibly the most well known in the whole world) in a world dominated by style over substance.
The focus of this compilation is to present to its audience not just a DJ's favorite selection or songs that stood the test of time but it represents a great collection of songs and grooves premiered on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide show before any other station in the world. It’s about music that Gilles has helped popularize across the world on his show which is syndicated in 15 countries. It’s a musical journey for DJ's and radio listeners across the world.
In addition to his Worldwide radio show, Gilles is also the head of Talking Loud Records where he introduced the world to Jamiroquai, Roni Size, 4 Hero, Courtney Pine, Brand New Heavies, Galliano and many more. He was a key founding member of the late 80’s Acid Jazz boom and recently set-up a new record label, Brownswood Recordings, to sign and develop exciting new talent as well as putting on his Worldwide Awards every year in London and the Worldwide festival every summer in the south of France. His compilation albums have become legendary and he continues to be a breath of fresh air on the dance floors of the world playing a unique selection of music that is rarely heard elsewhere."

Havana Cultura introduces new artist Danay
The screenshots look the same but trust me, these are two different videos
I went to the Toronto edition of Havana Club's Havana Cultura Cuban music & art festival headlining show featuring Gilles Peterson and Robert Fonseca. Bottom line, the show was ridiuclous. Fonseca is a beast on the keyboards - like Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles and Jerry Lee Lewis combined. Yeah I said it! Dude is that incredible.
Also, I might have got caught up in the moment but I think this chica, Danay could be a star. She looks amazing, has charisma coming out of her pores and can can sing and rap. I'm not saying she's the next (or Latin) Lauryn Hill but I think with the right producers and songs, she could really do something. The videos above don't even really do her justice based on what I saw last night but watch them and tell me if I'm onto somehting here or just smoking that good stuff wrapped in cohiba blunts!
