Another look at the "Lipstick on a Pig" controversy
Obama on this 'controversy' this morning:
So I have to stand corrected. Apparently this is an old political term. To wit:
John McCain calling Hillary Clinton's Healthcare campaign proposal Lipstick on a Pig. [YouTube video]
McCain again in Denver in May of this year. [YouTube video]
Dick Cheney using the Lipstick on a Pig turn of phrase during the 2004 election campaign. [YouTube video]
Lipstick on a Pig - a 2006 book by Torie Clarke, a former advisor to John McCain!
And finally, Mike Huckabee, of all people, defending Obama to Sean Hannity on Fox News. [YouTube video]
Now that I've heard the full story, like Barack said, let's put this 'phony outrage' to rest. Will that happen though? Unlikely.
