Verve Remixed 4 / Crest Hardware Art Show

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

S'funny, I got a copy of the brand new Verve Remixed 4 album in the mail this week which I checked out and thought was great! Then I saw a listing in the amNewYork free paper for the Crest Hardware Art Show opening in Williamsburg today and noticed that the cover art from the album is one of the featured pieces in the show. Coincidence? I think not. Get out and enjoy some of this great sun we're having this weekend by going to see the show. And if not check out some of Verve Remixed 4 here:

- James Brown - "There Was A Time (Kenny Dope Remix)" [YSI mp3 link]

- Marlena Shaw - "California Soul (Diplo / Mad Decent Remix)" [zshare stream/download mp3 link via Google Search]

The Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings album is out!

This is something I'd usually put on my other site, The In Crowd (and I did) but this project deserves more attention than that. The 100 Days, 100 Nights album's been out for a minute but it's a travesty that's its being largely ignored when it's clear the market is open to checking out vintage soul sounds as evidenced by the amazing sales success of the Amy Winehouse album this past year. I won't speculate on why that is (!), just check it out:

Bonus audio:

Sharon Jones & the Dap-Kings - "Keep on Looking (Kenny Dope Remix)" [direct mp3 download, right click and save as]

Download the WDAP Ghetto Funk Power Hour mixtape, which originally came as a bonus CD with the 100 Days, 100 Nights album, as a free mp3 download here. [direct mp3 download, right click and save as]

More mp3 downloads here.

This stuff is so dope - DON'T SLEEP, go check it out. You'll thank me later 'cos you can't go around talking about how 'soulful' sounding the new Jay album is and then not listen to this. Seriously....
