Post-Katrina: a year of broken and unfulfilled promises
A couple days late but who's complaining?
"My goal is to cut government in half in twenty-five years. To get it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub." -- Grover Norquist, The 'Field Marshall' of Bush's plan.
Well that terrible quote would explain the real tragedy of Katrina which is not the initial devastation of the hurricane and the subsequent flooding but the completely inept and inadequate response by the federal government in the aftermath when help was needed the most. And a year later, it hasn't gotten any better despite all the spin, rhetoric & photo opps. Truly Katrina is this nation and president's greatest shame.
