Visit Bang City and A*Town this summer....

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us
To win this, read below.

M.O.P. feat. 50 cent "Big Boy Game" - most of y'all have probably already peeped this. It's actually better than I expected based on comments I'd read. It still sounds like them boys from the 'Ville vocally & definitely beat-wise. 50 sounds like he crossed over to them rather than them adapting to the G-Unit sound but that might not necessarily be an encouraging sign for those hoping this latest career move will finally bring M.O.P platinum success.

I think at this point it's pretty clear that they're not a group that's gonna move units like that except by accident no matter what label they are on or singles they release. I'm predicting this run with G-Unit will bear that out (if they can actually get an album out, that is). (mp3 via Hiphopgame.com)

A*town's - a new (?) BAPE's-meet-Uptowns looking sneaker line straight outta Hotlanta. (related: last day to vote, please represent)

Next up from the new Dame Dash Music Group - the Bang City We Gets Super Busy mixtape by DJ Suss One (stream | download)

And more of that hyphy Bay Area ish from my peoples for those of y'all fccking with The Federation, Frontline, Keak Da Sneak etc. - Mac & A.K. "Ready To Bust."

This Hustle & Flow hip hop themed movie is buzzing in non-hip hop film circles but do real heads need to be fccking with it? (quicktime trailer: hi | med | lo)

The fact that XXL can do an entire "Jail Issue" is just depressing.

AmsterJam - "the biggest "mash-up" concert ever...." Biggest? Like there's been tons of them already?? The line "Fat Joe and "two major Latin performers" will also be on the bill" also made me a chuckle like Fat Joe STILL isn't an artist who's considered major (or Latin?!), LOL.

I was a supporter of The Chappelle Show before it got trendy and blew up during the second season. Now enter a new contest for a chance to win a Season 2 DVD Box Set which just came out a couple weeks ago. Simply answer the question, what is the name of the recurring crackhead character that Dave plays on the show? Email answers to the address at the top of the sidebar (subject line "Chapelle DVD contest"). Contest will end June 12th at 11:59:59pm EST, winner will be selected at random from all correct repsonses received, previous contest winners will ineligible unless no others winners qualify. (Peep a windows media clip from the DVD by clicking here)

And finally, thanks to everyone who came out last night. For those who missed it, my opening DJ set was kind of raggedy as I was having hella headphone cue problems at the beginning which threw me off my mixing game and from which I never really recovered. Da Beatminerz on the other hand put on a tutorial on how to rock a party the right way spinning everything from De La Soul's "Stakes is High" and Culture Club's "Time" to The Beatles and frat house favorite "Louie, Louie" and had the crowd dancing the entire time. Don't miss them at their weekly gig at Joe's Pub Sunday nights. Peace to Butter L and warm wishes again to E and Walt for celebrating their birthdays this week with the Good Foot crew. Also, check out their excellent Fully Loaded With Static album in stores now.
