Conservative Gun Nuts and the Virginia Tech Massacre
This is slightly old but I still had to post....
Remember when, in the aftermath of the Virginia Tech shooting, those right wing, conservative nutjobs were arguing that more liberal gun laws and allowing guns on campus might have saved some students' lives?
For a nice little preview of what life on college campuses would be like with guns in the mix, barely a week or two later a college student at Fresno State murdered one acquaintance and wounded two others after a fight over a playstation!
And now these from a week or so ago:
"The National Rifle Association is urging the Bush administration to withdraw its support of a bill that would prohibit suspected terrorists from buying firearms." (click here for more from "NRA: Don't Ban Gun Sales to Suspects")
"A gun-rights group plans to protest New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg's lawsuits against two Virginia gun shops by holding a "gun giveaway" in a Fairfax County government building." (click here for more from "Group plans Fairfax 'gun giveaway'")
If it's not already patently obvious to you, these people are f-cking crazy....

Kels "Doubles Up" on the music leaks

From a recent press release sent to me:
"Moved by the terrible events at Virginia Tech last week, singer-songwriter R. Kelly has written and recorded a song of encouragement in memory of the victims and in condolence to their families.
As the details of the tragedy were unfolding last week, Kelly was traveling across the country on his tour bus for a performance. Deeply affected by the news, he was inspired to write lyrics he shaped into a song entitled, “Rise Up,” a moving anthem in honor and remembrance of the victims of this heartbreaking event.
At Kelly's request, his label, Jive/Zomba Records is making the track available as a digital single for sale on Tuesday, May 15th in hopes of spreading the message of hope and unity. R. Kelly and Jive will donate 100% of the net proceeds from the digital single sales to the university’s official fund, The Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, and listeners who buy the track will be able to access a direct link to the memorial website. Recalling the spirit of triumph in one of Kelly’s previous celebrated anthems, “I Believe I Can Fly,” “Rise Up” is meant to offer encouragement and solace in the face of this senseless tragedy; “…We’ll be strong together, Stand together, Pray together, Rise up.” To learn more about the Hokie Spirit Memorial Fund, click here.
Listen to "Rise Up" below:
Oh yeah, he also has a record with Usher called "Same Girl" that just leaked but I doubt anyone cares about that, do they??
