Music Video: Saidah Baba Talibah – Place Called Grace
This is the video that was premiered at the party we did the ticket giveaway for a last week. I actually missed it at the premiere party but did catch the last half of the performance. Live Saidah Baba Talibah is the TRUTH!!! Her almost all-female band was SICK! I swear her guitarist could hold her own in an axe-battle with Prince - yeah I said it! If you dig soulful female rockers like Nikka Costa or Carleen Anderson, you need to investigate her ASAP. Honestly, her Phone Demos EP doesn't really do her full justice. Hopefully her forthcoming (S)cream album will!

In Toronto TODAY and TOMORROW: the CaribbeanTales Film Festival
Part of the Harbourfront Center's Island Soul program.
"CaribbeanTales is Canada's premier multimedia company that creates, markets and distributes films, videos, new media, resources and events that reflect the diversity and creativity of Caribbean-Canadian heritage culture. Caribbean Tales’ vision is to foster and encourage intercultural understanding and citizen participation through the medium of film, contributing to an inclusive Canadian society."

CONTEST: Win Tickets to the Saidah Baba Talibah Video Premiere Party at the Gladstone Hotel in Toronto
Its all going down August 5th.
I've featured this Toronto singer previously on The Kitchen HERE. Her soulful, stripped-down bluesy style on the songs that make up her EP, The Phone Demos are a breath of fresh-air in a world of over-produced, digitally sterile-sounding music.
Directed by short film director Sarah Michelle Brown, the video being premiered next week, for “Place Called Grace” from the EP, is set in a 1920’s speakeasy and features choreography by Lisa Auguste (SYTCD Canada). Click HERE to watch a behind-the-scenes of the shoot.
