Documentary: Maestro - Larry Levan & early DJ culture
I know everyone's still talking about DJ AM, quite rightly, but check out this great documentary about the early roots in the development of NYC's club music culture and another leegendary DJ, Larry Levan. This is a MUST-view if you care about DJ-ing and the history of black, club music. I know Jay Smooth just did a show on this sound over the weekend. Not sure if its archived anywhere though?? [note: this is actually a 9-part video playlist but part 9 is unfortunately missing]
