Throwback article: The Face magazine - "Living the Lo Life"
Some of this happened before my arrival in NYC but if you lived there in the late 80's/early 90's, you should be more than familiar with the 'Lo movement. By time I got there, it had expanded beyond Brooklyn (cf. Grand Puba and the uptown hip hop group, Zhigge) and the range of acceptable brands (Girbaud, Hilfiger etc.). Shout to my dudes Anthony Marshall and Danny Castro of Lyricist Lounge fame featured in the article and read Dallas Penn's blog as he actually lived this life back then and chronicles it extensively there.
