Here's Ted Haggard or more hypocricy from the GOP and the Religious Right
And just as I was working "No Foley" into my slang rotation.
The hypocricy of the GOP and the Religious Right and their "marriage of convenience" in together bashing social moderates and liberals in the name of "family values" and "traditional morals" has always rankled and gone beyond the pale as far as I'm concerned. So needless to say, recent events over the past couple months are particularly sweet to see. Let's recap:
According to David Kuo, the former number-two man in Bush's Office of Faith-Based Initiatives and the author of the book, Tempting Faith, Karl Rove's office referred to evangelical leaders as 'the nuts.' (click for more from Crooks and Liars)
Evangelicals 'feel used, taken for granted' by GOP.
"If you make a little mistake with one of your ‘hos,' you'll want to dispose of that problem tout suite, no questions asked" - actual copy from a GOP anti-choice ad targeted towards minorities. Between this and the Harold Ford hatchet job are we seeing a pattern develop here?
Creationist Dr. Dino goes to jail.
Bonus reading:
The official Ted Haggard site. I'm not sure if the "What he believes" page has a section advocating crystal meth use and paying for secret monthly gay sex trysts while publicly opposing gay marriage and admonishing the homesexual lifestyle, I didn't scroll down that far to check.
Jesus Camp - the movie about a camp
Richard Dawkins on Why There Almost Certainly Is No God (not that I necessarily agree with him).
But as far as these religious extremists go: Jesus would be ashamed of you.
And just in case, let me put a "No Ted Haggard" on this entire post.
