Sippin' and Spinnin' for the weekend....

It's goin' down! Yung Joc: don't try to fight the movement!

New music to ride out to for the weekend in your Donk, Box or Bubble:

- Marques Houston Feat. Yung Joc
"Like This" - this kid is killin' 'em on this collab with what is starting to seem like his trademark "crunk-snap" sound. He's Ma$e meets Young Jeezy. (related: Yung Joc interview)

- Gangsta Boo feat Bun B & Big Pokey "Sippin and Spinnin'" - not quite "Stay Fly" but the same formula is used here to pretty devastating effect. Play it a few times and it'll get under your skin. Not quite sure why this pre-free Pimp C era track didn't make more noise?

- Q-tip feat. Andre 3000 & Consequence "That's Sexy" - I kind of like it (where's Consequence?? I don't hear him even though he was credited as being on this track on the site I pulled this mp3 from) but can the "other Tip" (sorry, Kamaal, times change) win with this in today's marketplace?

Hip Hop in 2006, get used to it:

- "Blinged out" IM slang pendants.

The East Flatbush Project - I can't believe they're still around a decade-plus later. It seems like they've made a career off that one (admittedly incredible) "Tried By 12" single.

Check out beats by The J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, the crew that brought you "No One Will Do" by Mary J Blige, "Don't Get Caught" by Young Jeezy and "Rumble Young Man Rumble" by Juelz Santana (apparently).

A folk music cover of Public Enemy’s “Bring the Noise” by Brent Runyon.

New T-Pain podcast.

Muh'f-ckin' Mick Jagger to star in a TV sitcom - WTF??

Finally - looking for something to do TONIGHT after today's activity?

DJ Morsy
with the Nanachill crew & Sound Advice at Royal Oak in W'burg (click here for more details).

Or for those with more highbrow tastes: the HRO orchestra performs with Stefan Jackiw at NYU's Skirball Center at 8PM. Click here to buy tickets.

And while you're resting up tomorrow, check out my man (and former Source magazine editor) Selwyn's new TV show "The Chop Up" - "where BET news cuts the world down to bite-sized chunks [!]." (click here for a trailer the swordplay or here for air times)
