I don't know about the use of metaphors such as "likening the task facing cultural conservatives to that of soldiers sweeping black neighborhoods after riots" and Pat Buchanan's populist protectionist brand of conservatism is little outside of the mainstream of even right wing political thinking, but any time I hear a conservative is bashing Bush, I'ma make note of it.
