Although evidently managing California State's finances must be easier than doing it in the Big Apple: California Gov. I know I'm mad late on this but I only just started watching The Apprentice a couple weeks ago after being unable to avoid the buzz any more, and now I'm hooked. Trump even comes off looking kind of cool in the show. Believe the hype.
I'm probably late on this too but I just got up on it after hearing it yesterday. On the Foo Fighters' cover version of Prince's "Darling Nikki":
And confirming that fact, watching the movie Thirteen left me repelled and depressed with it's unrelentingly down take on one teen girl's struggle to cope with adolescence and her semi-broken home life. The movie had some strong performances and seemed authentic enough (with leeway given for the dramatic license taken within the implausible plot) probably due to the fact that the script was co-written by teen co-star Evan Rachel Wood. My question throughout the movie though was: "where's the hope in this story?" because even up until the bitter end, none seem to be offered up. Maybe I missed it or the point of this movie or... maybe I've gotten too old to get it? Still recommended though.

And my man, Max, clarifies that the new Mobb Deep, Thomas Dolby-sampling track getting run right now is actually called "Got It Twisted", not "Twist Em Up", which is also confirmed by the good folks down at Turntable Lab who just started carrying the 12" wax and hit us with the mp3 linkage. Max also tells us that Benny Boom will be shooting a video for this jawn too.
I never really f-cked with this dude in the past but after hearing and reading some press on him that caught my attention, I decided to check out some music on Planet Asia, whose new album The Grand Opening just dropped (or is about to). Many have tried to tread the fine line between backpack/underground and hardcore/thugged-out hip hop and failed but, based on what I'm hearing, he might have succeeded. I'm definitely trying to cop this album if I can find it cheap somewhere.

AP Poll: Bush, Kerry Are Tied in RaceAnd to you jackasses planning on voting for him, why? (Associated Press)
WASHINGTON (AP) -- John Kerry and President Bush are starting the general election campaign tied, according to an Associated Press poll, while independent Ralph Nader is drawing enough support to make Democrats squirm.
The Republican incumbent had 46 percent support, Democrat Kerry had 45 percent and Nader, the 2000 Green Party candidate who entered the race last month, was at 6 percent [emphasis added] in the survey conducted for the AP by Ipsos-Public Affairs.
