"I know exactly where I want to lead this country...." | The Game vs. Joe Budden, why? | Kanye's keeps reinventing the game with his new video

Why Cheney never sits for interviews: the Center for American Progress breaks down his apperances on various news shows yesterday in their The Progress Report.

How Dean dropped the ball, this Sunday on CNN. (More details here.)

I have no problem with Black conservatives even though I rarely agree with any positions they take, but this dude came off like a real jackass and Bush apologist on CNN today with Wolf Bliztzer and even had the gall to say that the problems in Haiti were none of the US's business. WTF?

I think Mel's laughing at all of us debating whether his movie is anti-semitic or not: What Mel's Passion Will Earn Him. (Forbes)

I don't even see myself as some kind of breaking news source, but is EURweb biting my posts (scroll down to Juvenile post)? I only mentioned the Teena Marie thing in passing after going to the Cash Money site and seeing her on there as well, yet a day later....

The tagline of this site does say "exploring music, politics & life from a hip hop perspective," so here's a story about just that: Rappers unite for political power: Fight the Power, a new documentary on BBC digital station 1Xtra, looks at the role of the hip-hop community in the US political system. (BBC News World Edition)

The down low on downloads: Everyone's buying the industry line that downloading is hurting album sales. A UNC researcher puts that claim to the test. (Independent Online)

Hip Hop beefs are jumpin' off again:

The Game from G-Unit "Street Hit" vs. Joe Budden & DJ Clue of Desert Storm "Game Over." (mp3 links courtesy: hiphopgame.com)

This is a tough one for me as I am a big fan of both artists and hate to see them wasting time on this, but since most of these beefs are basically about as real as wrestling (cf. Hov on this subject), I think I'm aight sitting on the fence for this one. Here's one of my peoples on this subject:
"DJ Clue had Game submit a song for one of his many Mixtapes, but did not inform Game he would be putting Joe Budden on the song. Joe Budden has beef wit the G-Unit and he went at the G-unit in the song on the subliminal. game felt like Clue disrepsected him by doing this. Can't say who won since I didn't hear the Game [track]... It'll probably be a matter of taste."
I'd probably have to agree with that last sentiment too.

More on the Usher/Petey Pablo double beat sale from an insider:
"Apparently, the "Freek-A-Leek" beat was intended for
Mystikal and he had it for a while without doing
anything with it. Figuring he wasn’t going to use it,
Lil Jon gave it to Usher. In the mean time, Mystikal's A&R
had passed it along to Petey. Jon wasn’t happy about
it at first and was bad mouthing the Petey song to
radio in the south. Things have since been smoothed
over.
"
I still don't even think they sound that similar, but what do I know?

The new Kanye video "All Falls Down." Taj is right, dude's on fire right now and really bringing some true originality and individualism back to the game. (via Ascensions)

And more mp3 heat from hiphopdx.com (page link spotted at Trent's beats & rants 2.2)

- Trina "Leavin You." This is the one everyone's been buzzing about. Trina flippin' LL's "Big Ole Butt" for her version of Biggie's bawdy club joint "Dreams."

- Ghostface "My Guitar." In a post-Grey Album world, can Ghost even get this cleared or is this being treated as a cover? Sample lyric: "Put this in your mouth and chew on the barrel of love," this is why we love Starks.

- Alchemist ft. Lloyd Banks "Bangers." This one's been on mixtapes for a while but still worth putting you up on if you don't get down like that.

- D12 ft. Eminem "6 In The Morning." I'm probably one of the few non-Eminem groupies who actually thought the first D12 album wasn't actually that bad, was (slightly) more than simply an excuse to put his mans 'n' them on or a quasi-Eminem follow-up album but, If I never heard another record from them ever, it wouldn't affect my life much.

- E-40 & Talib Kweli "Real Life." I really wish this song had sounded better than it did, as I'm a big fan of both these artists, but I was kind of disappointed in this one to be honest.

BTW: I found my Redman "I'll Be Dat" 12" finally (see March 1 post). I knew I couldn't have been that big an ass-clown to have skipped copping that record when it came out. And finally, congrats also to the Young Gunz on entering the Billboard album chart at #3 this week. I definitely didn't see that one coming.
